Provo NW Connector

provo_nw_connectorl

InterPlan was recently hired as a sub-consultant to Lochner Engineers in the development of a corridor for the Provo Northwest Connector Study. This study is to identify a corridor from the 2000 North Geneva Road area to the Provo City Municipal Airport area around 3100 West. InterPlan is assisting with travel forecasting elements of the project including some public involvement. The project generally involves a new corridor that will include a limited access facility connecting Geneva Road to 3110 West at the airport.

Preliminary traffic modeling and studies

InterPlan will review/confirm/update socio-economic data and land use for the travel demand model and forecast future traffic projections for the design year including Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) volumes and p.m. peak hour volumes for the corridor. The roadway will be analyzed including level of service analysis for the corridor and for future signalized intersections.

Corridor analysis for various alternatives

InterPlan will develop corridor alternatives, including logical termini, and perform Synchro analysis for  intersections along the corridor. Evaluation criteria will be developed to compare alternatives. Impacts of the preferred alternative will be evaluated on for regional impacts and benefits. InterPlan will work with neighborhood groups, city staff, planning commission, city council, property owners, developers, and other stakeholders as needed to identify a preferred alternative.

Coordination with Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG)

InterPlan will coordinate with MAG concerning the I-15 Access Study and with Utah County, and Orem City for connectivity to Geneva Road and regional impacts and/or benefits for nearby roads.
