InterPlan identified and analyzed several alternative alignments for the Porter Rockwell Boulevard and 14600 South intersection while considering potential future needs if the prison area is redeveloped. In addition, access spacing requirements in the vicinity of the intersection were studied, assuming that Porter Rockwell Boulevard eventually becomes a state highway. The Mountain View Corridor is a major north/south highway on the west side of the Salt Lake Valley and future plans call for it to extend south to northwestern Utah County. Porter Rockwell Boulevard is the major connection between Mountain View Corridor and I-15 near the Salt Lake/Utah County line. While a portion of Porter Rockwell Boulevard is built between Mountain View Corridor and Redwood Road, the rest of the facility has not been constructed. As the Mountain View Corridor and Porter Rockwell Boulevard continue to be constructed, major changes in traffic flow patterns are anticipated and will result in dramatically different traffic patterns at the intersection of 14600 South and Porter Rockwell Boulevard.
