InterPlan assisted UDOT Traffic and Safety with crash data analysis and mapping. This work included a review of historic average crash rates and development of a statistical methodology with 2006-2008 data to create new average crash rate values by area type and functional class. InterPlan also helped define a new safety index measure that incorporates crash data with the goals of UDOT Traffic and Safety and combines different safety factors into one simple value on a zero to ten scale. Finally, InterPlan continues to work with UDOT to develop maps, like the ones available below, and other safety products that can be used by a broader audience of planners and engineers to help create safer communities for Utah.
